This project is led by Dr. Birgit Szabo, who has established a captive population of Tokay geckos (Gekko gecko) to investigate their cognitive abilities and aspects of reptile welfare.

 

I have collaborated with Birgit on several projects, and we have already published a study showing that Tokay geckos can discriminate between individual humans, but their responses are context-specific! This collaboration was funded by the University of Bern (Open Round 2022).
